December 16, 2010 White as Snow
Contrary to what the title of this blog might have led you to believe, this entry is not about cocaine.
Now that I’ve got that cleared up for you … Let’s talk about teeth.
Teeth are such a focal point for me, whenever I meet someone I instantly noticed if they have bad teeth. I don’t mean crooked teeth necessarily; I’m referring to those dirty yellow unhygienic factors. So it goes without saying that I am obsessed with teeth whitening.
However this can be one of the most expensive processes as far as everyday beauty practices go. At home whitening kits usually don’t work and dentists charge so much that most of us avoid them like the black plague.
In effort to find something inexpensive and actually effective I’ve come across the one thing that has proven to work best on my teeth so I thought I’d share it with you.
Teeth Whitening
What You Need:
Baking Soda
Hydrogen Peroxide (The kind you buy at a chemist, for the love of god don’t use the hair bleaching kind – I use 6%, you can use up to 10% but I would go easy on this to start with)
Toothpaste (A mint one, or something with a strong flavour)
Instructions:
Mix the hydrogen peroxide and the baking soda in a cup to form a thick paste-like consistency. Add a small amount of toothpaste; this is merely to block the taste of the whitening paste, you can go without toothpaste if you want but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Brush your teeth as per usual, ensuring that you don’t swallow the mixture. Make sure to leave the paste on your teeth for 2-3 minutes, if it starts to feel uncomfortable at any time – obviously, discontinue use.
After this, brush your teeth as normal with toothpaste only. You should never use this mixture more often than once a week.
Results are instant. As an ex-smoker, I’ve been dying to find something to get my teeth into top condition and I think this is the greatest little concoction.
If you shy away from at home products or don’t feel comfortable using something like peroxide without a dentists advice, then by all means – don’t touch it. I highly recommend Go Smile Products (I have used them several times over the past few years with top results each use), however you can expect to pay $100-150 a kit as opposed to the $6.50 it costs to prepare this.
Anyone had any experiences with this? Or any other D.I.Y beauty treatments that they recommend?
If you give this a try – leave a comment, I’d love to hear how it goes.

You are hilarious. And, again, the pictures are so vivid on this site!
I, too, would love whiter teeth, but I have yet to actually do anything about it. Other than brush, of course.

Ooooh those teeth look amazing. I’m ALSO obsessed with white teeth. I swear to god. This is getting weird now.
I’m going to have to try this! I’ve used BDazzled in the past – see my blog posts for reviews. 😀

Course you are obsessed with it.
I just assume now that you love everything that I love.
I’m lurking these posts now. It’s funny; I’m all too aware I’m probably never going to be able to write about something you don’t already have an entry on, or have thoughts about. It’s so good. Haha. xo

My only issue with teeth – i have exceptionally healthy teeth that are *naturally* yellow. I don’t drink coffee or smoke, and at 21 have had no fillings, but the bloody things are not white! I have some white spots, but when I enquired at the dentist, she said that at best, the white dot’s would get brighter while the whole of the teeth remained yellowed.
Such a pain, but I’ll give this a go anyway! Thanks
